Any schooner person may become an active member of the Great lakes Schooner Union and as such mandates that he or she foster a spirit of solidarity through the spinning and exaggeration of nautical tales, the performance of raucous and bawdy songs, the desecration and general abasing of morals, and the propagation of merriment as inspired by excessive quantities of Ales, Lagers and spirits, fine or otherwise. Furthermore, the afore stated acknowledges their choice of a life at sea as the result of nothing more than their own lamentable judgment, for well they knew that, in regards to its quality of food and company, such a life is comparable to a life in jail, with the additional risk of drowning.
